It's fairly easy to create your own unique FurEcard site that can be linked as part of your home page and/or list it on the myFurEcard site listing!

To start building a card site you need to follow these simple steps.

• First create an account. Follow the prompts filling out the required fields.
• After creating a new account in a few minutes you should get an email message confirming your account and password (if you don't receive that contact furecard@furecard.com)
• Log into the FurEcard Admin site by using the link in the email or link off the FurEcard home page.
• After you log in you should see a list of things. To create a site you MUST have a category so click on create category
• Optional step: Upload your file that you are going to be used for FurEcard at this point. Just have it ready select the file name you want to upload and type the file name. And it will upload it the server just like that.
• Now on the create category you are defining an art category like Female Pinup. Just fill out the page and follow the on screen prompts to save
  
  Hints:
  
  • Feel free to make as many categories as you want or make one.
  • Categories are a great way to separate adult and tame art!
  • Categories require a thumbnail no way around it ;)
  • PIck the best create category for what you are doing.... The only differences between the Create Categories is how much information they display
  • Putting a height and width for thumbnails will speed up the rendering of the page. HIGHLY recommended!
  • Better yet if you uploaded your category thumbnail to the site it will figure out the size of the thumbnail for you automatically after you submit it. The height and width should be listed on the verify screen and the next time you edit the category.
  • Uploaded files are specified by file name only.
  • Selecting Adult yes/no will bring up a warning screen as standard for the internet. Should not discourage viewers from using the site
  • Putting text underneath the icon is HIGHLY recommended!
• After you make a few categories then go onto the main menu and select the appropriate Create Picture that you want to use.
• Again fill at least the required fields. And follow the on screen prompts to save your new picture.
  
  Hints:
  
  • All the "Create picture" items that are available is just limiting how much information they show you. Create picture or edit picture will show you ALL the options that are available.
  • Full size page/url can be a link to your web site or even the same picture you use in the web site
  • Height and width will be set for thumbnail and postcard picture automatically set if you upload them to the site. If you use that file on the verify screen you will see the values listed.
  • If you upload a file to the site and use the filename (without http:// blah blah) then the site can create thumbnail for your image. You do not need to enter a thumbnail name in that case.
  • It's highly recommend to have height and width entered for faster loading and rendering of the page.
  • You should set adult flag on the picture even if the category is rated for adult
  • FurEcard does provide 5 megs of hard drive space per artist. Special cases of upgrading HD space will be noted. But FurEcard can handle urls from any site on the internet (You just don't get thumbnail creation features and picture size). If you do that please don't use xoom or anglefire they really don't like linked pictures.
• Now make categories and pictures till your heart content.
• Now go back to Edit Artist Account. Change your password and set the site as active!
  
  Hints:
  
  • Personally I would set the myFurEcard site as being no for active and List myFurEcard to no until you are ready to look at it. Then you should make the site active but not visable to myFurEcard (IE the general listing) You can flip that to active when you are done editing the site.
  • You don't need a logo if you want to list on the myFurEcard side. It just won't show any cute banner graphic. And yes the graphic must be that size, on the local site, and smaller than 30K.
• Take the url sent in the email or check out the View Information button and give that out to friends. Or just point them directly at the FurEcard site. Hopefully the users will come in.

This system includes the ability to put a link for sounds on each card. So you can put a howling wolf or squeaking box springs on a card message.

Hints:

• The Create and edit features are almost the same as the picture edit/create features
• If the sound is uploaded to the site just type the file name and the site will find it and place it on the site appropriately.
• Remeber FurEcard can use sound and media files hosted on the site or hosted on another machine.
• If you do include sounds the user has to click on a link to get the sound. This is so people don't get bothered by icki sounds or have their browser crash when they open the FurEcard up.

Over time your site is used so feel free to come back and change the site. The modify category and pictures page will bring up the same information that you entered that can be easily edit. Or you can deactivate a picture or category. And if you really hate a picture you can delete it. You can also see which parts of your site is being hit the most just check out the view counter option part of the admin.

THe site has two advance buttons the Edit Text and the Modify Header/Footer.

The Modify Header/Footer allows you to change the top or bottom of each page. In there you can change the color and some look and feel of the page. Replace the banner and other neet things. Feel free to experiment just remember your users may be able to see your experiments. If things go back just reset/delete the header to the default.

The other key thing is the Edit Text this allows you to edit some of the text that is displayed on screen and in the email. You can use this to give your site a unique look and feel from a textual point of view. Feel free to edit anything that is there to the liking. Just like the header/footer you can always reset it back to the default!

• View Information - WIll show your url to the site and files that you have uploaded to the site. From there you can delete files that you have uploaded.
• View Counter - You can view counter hits on your site.
• Upload a File - Uploads a file into your account. You have around 5 megabyte of space to play with. This space is for use with the FurEcard only and ONLY if you don't have space on your own site.
• Logout - To close your session and log off. This will log you off the fast way ;). Otherwise you will be logged off after 20 minutes of non-use.

• myFurEcard:Is the name of the card site the artist makes.
• FurEgallery:Sites the furry public can view.
• myFurEgallery:Is the name of the picture gallery the artist makes.
• Category:Grouping of pictures. Can be used for both FurEcard and FurEgallery.
• Picture:(In relation with furecard and furegallery)An entry that controls how art is shown to the user.
